Sanrio knows that working an office job is hard. You get pushed around a lot, especially when you’re the most junior staff around. Bosses can sometimes be extremely unreasonable, and perhaps that’s why their latest character, Aggretsuko, can literally be broken down into Aggressive Retsuko. The creators behind Hello Kitty would like to introduce you to this cute 25-year-old Red Panda who explodes into a ball of rage whenever she’s pushed to her limits at work. I know I’m not alone when I say that most of us in Singapore can relate to her. Perhaps more so than to Hello Kitty. To…

Skateboarding has always looked so cool, but the thought of having to manually propel myself forward has just made me stick to walking. The dream of an automatic skateboard in Singapore might not be too far off though, all thanks to the brilliant minds at Ultimate Engineering. Passionate about riding, racing and extreme sports, the team (comprising Carlos Kubler, Juan Pablo Viera and Alejandro Veloz) are turning skateboards and longboards into machines with Eon. Eon is the first modular electric powertrain for light vehicles. Weighing only 1.5kg, the Eon motors can be mounted onto any skateboard or longboard to enable it to…
The Robertson Quay area might get a new lease of life, thanks to the folks at The Lo & Behold Group and their first boutique hotel opening. The group has transformed a warehouse that dates all the way back to 1895, and was situated along a trade route that connected Singapore to the Straits of Malaya in the 19th century. The Warehouse Hotel exudes ALL the chic and relaxing vibes you’d want on a staycation, and the location gives you a chance to take advantage of the surrounding food centres and many Japanese and Italian restaurants. While it’d be tempting to eat out,…

Adidas NMD R1 Trail While the collection includes hooded track tops, windbreakers, logo t-shirts, crew sweats, track pants and shorts — but what’s keeping us excited is the introduction of new footwear styles such as…

While Singapore has risen to become a first-world nation, the same cannot be said for our arts community. I have always been a huge fan of well decorated street walls aka wall murals or wall graffiti so prevalent overseas, and will always make it a point to appreciate the amount of hard work and dedication put in by the artists. Being the law abiding citizens that we are, I would say our street mural scene still has much room to grow. Don’t get me wrong, I just think that there is a fine line between vandalism and street art, and we could…
While Funan DigitaLife Mall may have closed for a revamp, its walls have begun to breathe new life of their own. This is all thanks to professional graffiti artist, Mohammad Azlan Ramlan, who is more famously known as Ceno2. Funan reached out and gave Ceno2 the opportunity to work his magic on the 12 metre by 3.6 metre hoardings that would remain around the mall while it undergoes its revamp. His creative take on the six different themes (Chic, Craft, Play, Technology, Fit and Taste) that the new mall is modelled after is an interesting interpretation through the art of spray painting. Take for instance…
The day has finally arrived. We now have a Singaporean version of the popular card game, Cards Against Humanity. What started as a school project by Tan Yong Heng, has now been turned into a sellable version due to overwhelming demand. Tan, who was a student at the time, partnered with Gabriel Leow, co-owner of local company Play Nation, to make this a reality. They raised funds through crowdfunding site, Kickstarter.com, and managed to hit their funding target (a whopping $20,000) within 1.5 hours of launching their campaign. Sticking to the same format as the original Cards Against Humanity, each…

They are prized for their distinct fur coat, which features the exact same brown spots and black lines as seen on leopards. Wanting to find out more about this rare breed of cats, we visited Designer Bengal Singapore at their boutique along Jalan Besar to learn more from the owner, Mr Alfred Khan. The…
