Sanrio knows that working an office job is hard. You get pushed around a lot, especially when you’re the most junior staff around. Bosses can sometimes be extremely unreasonable, and perhaps that’s why their latest character, Aggretsuko, can literally be broken down into Aggressive Retsuko.
The creators behind Hello Kitty would like to introduce you to this cute 25-year-old Red Panda who explodes into a ball of rage whenever she’s pushed to her limits at work.
I know I’m not alone when I say that most of us in Singapore can relate to her. Perhaps more so than to Hello Kitty.
To deal with all the pent up rage from her office job at a Trading Company in Tokyo, Aggretsuko indulges in heavy metal and loads of alcohol. I’m not complaining but, whatever happened to child-friendly cartoons?
Thank you Sanrio for creating a character that for once has dual personalities that we all can identify with, regardless of the stage of life that we’re at. If you need a break from work, tune in to this new short TV Anime series.
