For the first time ever, Dreamworks is organising a run in Asia. It will be taking place at Gardens By The Bay on 24 June 2017 from 4pm – 8pm. Not only will you be able to take part in the run, you can also expect to have tons of fun at the carnival, where you will meet Dreamworks characters from Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, and Kungfu Panda. A ticket costs S$65 and includes goodies and Dreamworks merchandise such as a T-shirt, cap, a temporary tattoo, and even a participation medal. Though we have plenty of runs in Singapore, this run is made more fun and enjoyable…

I’ve always enjoyed a good escape room kinda game, be it online, or in an actual room. The Guardians: An Unravelling Adventure takes that up a notch and doesn’t necessarily lock you up in a room, but gives you the chance to roam Sentosa instead. I’m talking cable car-riding while adopting the same puzzle-solving game mechanics you’re used to in a traditional escape room. Sign up soon though, as the game will only be available from 12 June to 2 July 2017. The Guardians game is a collaboration between The Escape Artist, Singapore’s pioneer escape room company, and One Faber Group, which operates the Sentosa line of the Singapore…

Everyone wants to adopt a puppy, but why not do something that goes against the norm and adopt a military-trained dog? MINDEF (Ministry of Defence) has put 12 dogs from the Military Working Dog Unit up for adoption until 15 June 2017. These military veteran dogs are around eight years old or younger, and have retired from their duties as guard dogs or sniffers. The dogs have all undergone basic obedience training and have clean bills of health. Though they are a little older and unable to keep up with the heavy requirements of their military jobs, these dogs are still active…

This is one aqua park that is gonna blow your mind. Club Balai Isabel is a brand new inflatable water park that is located in Batangas, Philippines, a few hours’ drive from Manila. You can expect awesomely steep water slides, obstacle courses, and even rock walls that you can scour on this tiny inflatable park. What’s kind of amazing though, is that it is located in Taal Lake — the lake that is home to the second most active volcano in the Philippines, with 33 eruptions under its belt. I’ve personally hiked Taal Volcano, it’s a short 0.5 – 1hr hike,…

Glamping Singapore is a start-up company that offers packages that help you camp or have a picnic wherever you’d like to in Singapore, without any of the fuss or planning that you would normally have to go through. With a few hundred dollars (prices start at $300), everything is covered — from the set-up to the decor, food, and even the clean-up! Though glamping is technically ‘glamorous camping’, it doesn’t necessarily have to take place outdoors. You can have it indoors, on a balcony, or even by the poolside. It’s a really unique way to have a birthday party, tea session,…

When you’re not a natural at sports that require a certain finesse and/or balance, the embarrassment of not being able to do it well in front of your friends would probably make you curl up into a ball. But this new sport that was invented in Canada seems like the perfect solution for people (like me) who are not as good at balancing. Broomball is a variation of ice hockey, except that the main equipment has been replaced to be more user-friendly for those who are less inclined to sports. Broomball requires ice shoes, instead of skates, larger ‘broomsticks’ instead of…

American singer-songwriter Banks will be headlining in Singapore for the first time on 11 July 2017. You may have heard her sultry and smoky vocals on the radio, with hits such as Begging For Thread and Waiting Game. Her music is often described as a variety of genres, such as indie pop or dark R&B. Banks’ concert will be held at the Capitol Theatre, a small but swanky venue that is full of heritage. Even if you’ve watched many concerts in Singapore, I’m willing to bet that you have not attended one in the Capitol Theatre. The venue certainly contributes to the experience. If you’re up for…

Windsor Nature Park has opened recently near Upper Thomson, on 22 April 2017. Foodies who love eating at Upper Thomson Road have fewer excuses to put off exercising now. This Nature Park boasts a total of five trails, all of which are marked as ‘easy’ by the National Environment Agency (NEA), so they’re perfect for some light trekking. What I especially liked about the park was how cool it was as the towering trees provided plenty of shade, despite the swamp-like humidity levels. Speaking of swamps, Windsor Nature Park is actually more of a rainforest and marshland, and not at all…

The Voice, a singing competition well known for its blind judging, is coming to Singapore soon. However, it has received a lot of flak for its eligibility criteria which states that participants need to be “fluent in Mandarin, and able to perform Mandarin songs”. There are three camps of thought. The first camp (which is the majority) thinks that what The Voice Singapore/Malaysia is doing is discriminatory and unfair. The second camp feels that this is not an issue to begin with and believes that people should move on. The last camp believes that though this situation seems unfair, it is…

My Art Space is both an art studio and a cafe that is located in the Istana Park, just a stone’s throw away from Plaza Singapura. Not only can you enjoy a chill brunch here, you can also take up painting classes or go art jamming for fun. I went to My Art Space to review the two and a half hour art jam package ($55) (a free and easy painting session with materials provided), but I also found myself being really impressed by the architecture and design of the place. The My Art Space building is surrounded by plenty of greenery and…

When you’re at Clarke Quay, you’re more likely to go get a glass of bubbly in a bar, rather than make a bubbly bar of soap. But that’s exactly what we did at Soap Ministry. Soap Ministry is a shop in Liang Court that sells handcrafted soaps and holds workshops for people who want to custom make their own soaps. Despite being a person who generally favours liquid soap because of its ease of use, I found myself charmed by these cute little bars of soap that smell absolutely phenomenal. There are tonnes of fragrant essential oils as well as mineral-laden powders…
