Fancy a bit of local theatre? Tropicana The Musical will finally be showing at Capitol Theatre from 13 – 30 April 2017.
Produced by theatre veteran Tan Kheng Hua and directed by Beatrice Chia-Richmond, Tropicana The Musical transports you back to the sexy sixties of Singapore, a fun-loving and hippie era that some of you may remember.
Set in 1968, the musical revolves around the lives of the people at a newly opened nightspot right in the heart of Orchard Road. It’s grand and excessive, fashioned after Las Vegas – it’s Tropicana.
The musical will tug at your heartstrings and tickle you silly, as you slowly discover the stories and enigmatic characters.
Together with original compositions by Joel Tan, Tropicana The Musical is a moving piece inspired by a nostalgic part of Singapore’s history, with both real and imagined people and places.
The musical aims to remind us of how the notion of creativity and individuality then promised so much more, in what was believed to be the last era of freedom in Singapore.
Dates & Times: 13 – 30 April 2017, (Tues to Fri) 8pm, (Sat) 3pm & 8pm, (Sun) 3pm.
Prices: Start from S$58
