Tell us your name, and how you’d describe yourself to someone whom you’re meeting for the first time.

Hi I’m Jean Danker and I love radio, been on it most of my life and am really passionate about connecting with people through my radio show.

What are the five tracks of your life?

Gosh, there’s so many and its quite hard to pick, but here goes…

1. Make It Happen – Mariah Carey

It was really my theme song when I was growing up, its about believing in yourself and never giving up. Its encouraged me a zillion times when I really needed it.

2. ‘Til You Do Me Right – After 7

I really loved all the 90s R&B songs and this one sticks out coz I remember singing it in my acting class in school. It was pretty terrifying haha and its still a fave song of me and my best friends’.

3. In Repair – John Mayer

I absolutely love anything John Mayer makes, so I have to include him here. One of my all time faves is “In Repair”. Just ’cause, aren’t we all a constant work in progress? Resonates always.

4. Best Part (feat H.E.R.) – Daniel Caesar

I was first introduced to him by Sezairi when he came on my radio show to perform and off air he played and sang a bit of this song for me and was telling me about the wonderful Daniel Caesar. It’s been one of my faves ever since.

The feels are massive with one, I think it’ll stick with me for a long time to come. (Still bummed I missed seeing him perform in SG).

5. Free – Ultra Nate

Haha! I love this one so much, just a great late 90s dance record about having absolute freedom to do what you want to do with your life!

Why would you consider this playlist to be significant to you?

When I look at this list, it really takes me to important quite pivotal moments of my life. That’s what music is isn’t it? its a bookmark of all the great and not-so-great life moments.

Pick one track and tell me your fondest/most interesting memory of it.

I knew I wanted to be on radio since I was 14 and set my heart on that ever since, but my parents and pretty much EVERYONE around me (except for my best friend at the time) were incredibly unsupportive and discouraging.

That’s hard to deal with for a young person, but I remember just gritting me teeth and sticking to my guns and decided to dismiss everyone’s opinions and pursue it. This song came into play a zillion times for me. Mariah Carey helped make my dreams come true I guess. Hahaha.

If I had asked you this question 10 years ago, what is the one track that your then-self would have picked as your favourite?

Yeah, I reckon the Mariah one would still be my fave.
