Singapore is known to many as one of the cleanest countries globally and it is all down to the hard work of our cleaners island-wide that we are able to live in such hygienic conditions. As part of an initiative led by Singapore’s Public Hygiene Council, CleanSG Day gives cleaners a paid break from work for a whole day on 26 April 2020, as a form of recognition and appreciation—it will be the first time that Singapore’s cleaners have been demobilised nationwide.
Residents and volunteers from green groups will host several clean up activities and the Council hopes that with this initiative, it will encourage all to take personal responsibility for the cleanliness of our common spaces and to be more vigilant about littering and waste disposal in Singapore where 21,000 tonnes of rubbish are generated every day.
Help Singapore to stay clean and green by sharing photos of your CleanSG Day on social media and hashtag #KeepSGClean to spread awareness of this initiative on 26 April 2020.
