Freeze, don’t move! We’ve got a-Mei-zing news for all Overwatch players: Blizzard is holding Overwatch’s first ever Southeast Asian Tournament this March, and the team that places first will be awarded a sweet cash prize of US$2500 (approx S$3550). Interested parties have to register by 15 March, 11.59pm, Singapore time.
The tournament will be held on the PC platform only, so those of you who are used to game consoles might want to consider how that might affect your gameplay before signing up. And while Sombra might insist that everything can be hacked, we advise that you stick to the rules and avoid trying that out during the competition.
The event will kick off on 25 March with the sudden death open qualifiers, in six-versus-six matches. This will be followed by the group stage from 1 to 23 April, the knockout stage from 29 to 30 April and, lastly, the grand finals on 6 May.
That’s a lot of time for the excitement to build up and by the time mid-April rolls around, we bet you’ll be all pumped up to watch the finals already. As Hanzo would say, I grow tired of waiting.
As of now, at least 24 teams from the various participating countries have signed up but few Singaporean teams have registered so far. If you think you’ve got what it takes to represent Singapore, get your team together and let the dragon become you this March at the Blizzard Overwatch SEA Tournament!
