Our Nation’s 55th birthday is upon us, and whether you show your love with these quirky Singaporean shirts or blasting this year’s National Day song, I hope it makes you swell with pride to see how far we have come. From now till 30 August 2020, 10 of our national monuments and cultural institutions will be lit up in red and white for an extra dose of patriotism.
These selected buildings include The Armenian Church, Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Central Fire Station, CHIJMES, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, National Gallery Singapore, National Museum of Singapore, The Arts House, and Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall (VTVCH).
These buildings will be bathed in red and white-themed light projections to symbolise how we are #UnitedThroughCulture. Each building represents a different chapter in Singapore’s story and played an integral part of our nation-building. So, there’s a little history lesson there.
The prettiest one of all, The National Museum will feature a special projection of the National Day 2020 theme: “Together, A Stronger Singapore” in all four official languages. An excellent photo op if I do say so myself.
Have a leisurely night walk around these buildings and see Singapore in a different light.
If you want to go the whole nine yards this National Day, we have a list of Singaporean shows you can catch right now on Netflix. Plus, there are even more Singaporean goodies coming to Netflix in the upcoming months. National Day might be a little different this year, but hey, it’s still home.
