The Istana is an iconic landmark in Singapore, and for those who might not know, it is the official residence and office of the President of Singapore —it is also used to receive and entertain state guests. The Istana, which means “palace” in Malay, is one of Singapore’s heritage site and has significant importance to the country.

The presidential grounds are open to the public five times a year, coinciding with several Singapore public holidays such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and National Day. This time, to commemorate the heritage site’s 150th anniversary, members of the public are invited to visit the Istana at night for the first time ever on 6 October 2019.
Hosted by President Halimah Yacob and her husband Mr. Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, The Istana 150th Commemorative Event will showcase a variety of programs to entertain and celebrate this monumental occasion.
One of the event highlights, besides touring the ground, includes a dazzling light show projection on the facade of The Istana which portrays the entire history and heritage of this architectural marvel over its 150 years of history.

Members of the public will also get to enjoy entertainment from the arts scene, such as the Singapore Symphony Orchestra performing live as well as other local acts like 53A, Clement Chow, Rahimah Rahim and MICapella.
There will be three time slots available for this rare occasion– 8.15 p.m., 8.25 p.m. and 9.15 p.m. Tickets are available here for you to purchase and all proceeds from the event will be donated to charity through the President’s Challenge.
Price: S$12 for Singaporeans and permanent residents, and S$20 for non-Singaporeans.
