I’ve never been a game addict, but the latest of the release of Animal Crossing has got me curious about its latest version. To anyone who’s as clueless as I was previously, Animal Crossing is a Nintendo game and the brainchild of Katsuya Eguchi and Hisashi Nogami.

The social simulation game revolves around a human avatar that lives in a village inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The character carries on their day-to-day with different activities like hunting, fishing, and preying.
It is an open-ended game that relies on the game’s internal clock to simulate the ‘real’ passage of time. It is no wonder why this game has gained its popularity during this global lockdown—a period where most people have been stripped of their freedom so they seek comfort in this timely virtual realm.
Interestingly, a Twitter user @vapidmarie found great similarities between the avatars with the appearance of phone charging cables.

She unearthed images of different phone charging cable designs and created comparative tweets with these mascots. I cannot help but agree with the uncanny similarities between them.

My favourite has got to be Pietro—the sheep villager—especially when its multi-colour patchwork in clown-like appearance found his twin in the USB rainbow multi-port cable.

Behold Static—the cranky squirrel villager—and his doppelgänger in the form of a deep purple LED charging cable with flashing neon green lights.

Isn’t it awesome to find familiarity in the obscurest of things?
