A beach in town? Yes, you didn’t hear it wrong at all. Head down over to Aloha Beaches at Bugis Junction X Bugis+ to enjoy a beach-themed bazaar.
The beach setting is also incorporated with the usage of actual sand in different zones. As I stepped into the bazaar, a tinge of summer vibes swept through me. With pastel palm trees, deck chairs and neon lights surrounding the entire area, it felt as if I entered a beach resort.
As part of the the setup, the Summer Lounge is filled with pastel-coloured trees and fairy lights hanging from above while the floor is filled with sand. Don’t worry, the sand is not filled to a level where you will feel uncomfortable walking in shoes. It is just enough to make you feel like you are at the beach. Beaches automatically associate with the the coast, however it really struck me how they managed to bring this concept to an urban terrain and pulled it off.
Aloha Beaches @Bugis definitely looks more stunning when night falls. Tables and chairs are also decked upon in the lounge for patrons to chill and enjoy their meal bought from the food bazaar. Bring your date and have a night under the stars.
No beach party is complete without food. Present in this bazaar are several food pop-ups such as The Swag Social and Rollet and Doughboys. Enjoy the delicious bites from these stalls while you chill by the lounge. It is definitely worth the wait for the good food which fits the beach bazaar concept well.
Across from the lounge, it is the perfect Instagram zone for guests. A swing and inflatable floats are used as props to showcase the tropical mood of a beach. Time to take OOTD shots! If you plan to head down on the weekends, live music from local bands is provided too.
Looking to purchase beachwear for the complete look? Look no further.
Labels such as Havaianas, Fresh by Grace and Vintagewknd are all displaying the latest summer wear at their bazaar booths. In particular, Havianas has an all-new Toy Story 4 collection that debuts here, while Vintagewknd has weekly specials for their tropical-themed clothes only for this event.
To top the entire beach experience off, an outdoor theatre is incorporated in the entire event with beach chairs decked across the sandy surface. Movies ranging from family-friendly shows like Beauty and the Beast to blockbuster movies such as the Avengers will be screened at 7.30pm every night. Take note that you have to spend a minimum of S$5 in a single receipt at the participating food and retail vendors at the Summer Lounge and Tropical Bazaar in order to redeem a movie pass.
I love the chill vibes presented here that is unlike anywhere else in Singapore for beach lovers. Furthermore, for spending just S$5 to enjoy a outdoor movie with beach settings and fairy lights hanging above, count me in.
This beach bazaar comes close to recreating a beach experience, especially when it’s located in the heart of town. Although it may not be massive in scale, the bazaar is still good for a casual session with mates or even a date.
Heading down at night will be best as you get to experience the outdoor cinema and lighting at its best display. Try to avoid heading there on rainy days as you will not be able to enjoy the outdoor features and it will totally dampen your mood (in a bad way). Have fun in the sun!
