Talk about a major throwback—playing Super Mario in 8-bit on a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) made out of LEGO? It definitely doesn’t get any more retro than that. The 80s style LEGO TV aesthetic is making a comeback, and we’re all here for it.
Gamer geeks would be delighted to know that the package includes the classic NES-style controller, a wire that connects the console, as well as a cartridge slot for your game, topped off with a locking feature. This mimics the original NES system that used to be all the rage.
What might surprise many though, is that the LEGO-made set is actually functional, and to answer your burning question—yes, you can play Super Mario Bros on it, albeit in 8-bit. Expect the class gameplay featuring Mario’s reactions to power-ups, enemies, and obstacles.
“With the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, we’re letting them truly indulge in that nostalgia,” said Maarten Simons, LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System’s Creative lead. “Recreating one of the most-loved consoles of all time so they can see the Super Mario from their childhoods once again.”
The LEGO NES will be available exclusively from LEGO Certified Stores in Singapore from August 1st.
