Uchimaru Hakuba is a ski lodge located in Hakuba, Japan and set up by Jane Killick, a Singaporean whose dreams have travelled far. Uchimaru offers both the secluded feel of getting away from bustling city life while making sure that guests are still able to access nearby areas easily.
For starters, Uchimaru is located within walking distance of restaurants, bars and convenience stores (or konbini, as the Japanese call them). Plus, since there’s a bus stop right across from the lodge, you won’t have any problems getting there with your luggage.
Uchimaru offers a cosy setting that includes private bathrooms for each guest bedroom and a fireplace in the communal lounge. Sounds like a good place to come back to after having a go at the ski slopes!
During the hotter seasons, you can enjoy other activities like mountain biking, water rafting and hiking. It’s suited to holidays from 15 December to 15 March, so you won’t have to worry about having nothing to do if you’re not going during winter.
In fact, the lodge is so popular that it was fully booked for most of the previous winter season. If you want to experience it during your end-of-year holidays, you’d better start making reservations fast!
Prices: Rooms start from ¥8,125 (about S$101) onwards per night
