Sony has expanded its full-frame lens line up with a new addition to the family, the Sony FE 20mm F1.8 G large-aperture ultra-wide-angle prime lens. The title is a mouthful because what you read is what you get—and more.
The FE 20mm F1.8 G is a compact, lightweight, ultra-wide prime lens that guarantees you superb G Lens resolution and the perfect bokeh effect. This is the widest full-frame prime lens that Sony has released in the E-mount line-up. Thereby gifting Sony’s full-frame users with more liberty and selection in shooting their stunning landscapes and living out their videographer dreams.
This lens assures excellent performance in a compact, weather-sealed package. The camera also boasts 14 elements in 12 groups—including two AA (advanced aspherical) elements, three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and the delivery of high corner-to-corner image quality at the maximum aperture F1.8. Moreover, the use of two XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors ensures delivery which is both quick and precise as well as silent autofocusing for both stills and video shooting.
Weighing in at only 373g (13.2 oz), Sony promises excellent close-up performance with a minimum focus distance of 7.5 inches and accurate reproduction of point light sources with high contrast and minimum sagittal flare for astrophotographers. This new lens is nothing short of impressive and has just brought convenience in professional shooting to a whole new level.
Retailing at USD$900 (approx S$1260), the lens is available at selected Sony Stores, Sony Centres, leading electronics stores and selected authorised dealers from 27 February 2020. Try this lens out for yourself to find out what all the hype is about.
