Pokemon Go, Pokemon cafes… And now, Pokemon red packets! These ang baos (red packets) have come at just the right time for Chinese New Year, started by a Singapore-based Kickstarter.
Available in auspicious colours of red and gold, each envelope features well-loved pocket monsters such as Pikachu, Eevee, and more. Along with their various evolutions.
The Hoenn starters with Torchic at the forefront is perhaps the most apt for the upcoming rooster year.
The project-starter promises that the product will be delivered by Chinese New Year, in time for them to be given out to lucky kids during visitations. Even those who aren’t distributing red packets would find it hard to resist the cute, red-stamped designs as collectables.
Aside from limited-edition designs, each pack of envelopes costs S$2, but higher tier backers will receive more goodies. One of these is a special booklet conveniently detailing the meanings of the Chinese New Year phrases used on the ang baos.
However, it comes with the priciest S$88 pledge, and might be more suitable for friends to purchase together.
Approximately half of the backing opportunities have already been snapped up so catch ’em all before they’re gone!
Price: Pledge tier range is $2 to $88
