In the climate of Coronavirus, life as we know it has had to be tweaked in more ways than one. Events are being cancelled, travel is put on hold—you know the drill. It seems like retail companies, too, are getting on with the times, and the ever-so-creative Sanrio brand has come up with a new line of mask-donning plushie keychains that couldn’t be more relevant and timely.
The Mask Series Charms Collection features Sanrio’s signature characters—Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pom Pom Purin, Cinnamoroll, and Pochacco—all equally irresistible in their own right. Armed with a miniature mask, each character looks ready to take on just about anything—a handy reminder in the spirit of positivity especially when morale can be low at a time like this.
Pom Pom Purin, Cinnamoroll, and Pochacco—who are coincidentally all dog characters—don pristine, sanitary-looking white masks, while Hello Kitty and My Melody each have rosy pink ones to match their sweet exterior.
The masks are also detachable, so you can always take them off whenever you feel like sneaking a peek at the characters’ adorable smiles, or when the Wuhan Coronavirus dies down, whichever comes first.
While these cute pals are only available in Japan currently, there’s always Airfrov to save the day. The keychains are slated to drop this March, so you’ll want to preorder them ASAP to get first dips, which you can do so here.
Price: ¥1760 (approx. S$22.24), going at S$35 on Airfrov
Date: March 2020
