If the Circuit Breaker has gotten the better of you and you find yourself missing the old school teenage romance films featuring a misunderstood female protagonist and plenty of cute emo boys, then I believe that The Kissing Booth 2 is the throwback love story to fill that movie-shaped hole in your heart. The first iteration of the film hit Netflix back in 2018, and now it’s back for a sequel after a much-anticipated two years.
We follow the story of central character Elle Evans (Joey King) who just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi). However, a curveball is thrown into their relationship when Noah heads off to Harvard. Elle has to return to high school for her senior year.
Elle finds herself in a conundrum when she has to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college, and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (Taylor Perez).
Noah also grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), and Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs. Director and screenwriter Vince Marcello returns for The Kissing Booth sequel, based on characters from Beth Reekles’ 2012 young adult book.
