Illuminate your night with i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition from 28 January – 24 February 2019.
This year’s theme is ‘Bridges of Time‘, featuring 32 different artworks made by 14 artists from different countries, using sustainable light installations.
i Light Singapore will span from Marina Bay to historical local sites, such as Civic District, Singapore River and Raffles Terrace at Fort Canning Park. The installations delve into the topic of connectivity while reflecting on Singapore’s history and growth over the last decades.
The aim of this exhibition is to inspire attendees to work together for a sustainable future, through beautiful light displays.
Centoaph for a Stone is created by students from the National University of Singapore, which won the i Light Student Award. This artwork commemorates the destruction of the Singapore Stone in 1843.
The Singapore Stone was a slab of stone from the 10th-century, bearing an undecipherable inscription, it was, however, blown up to widen the river passage in 1843 and was later hailed as a ‘national treasure’.
Another artwork you can enjoy is Sails Aloft. This light installation is made of 3D light, and includes a water hologram of sailboats from Estonia.
Have an educational night out with i Light Singapore, and learn more about Singapore’s history through their sustainable light exhibitions!
