From herds of elephants in Kenya, to penguins in the Arctic and frogs in the Amazon, Google’s Street View Trekker has met some charming characters on its journey around the world. This year, Google will be documenting a unique crustacean crusade.

Venturing to Christmas Island (which is part of Australia), Google Street View will join more than 45 million local residents for their annual trip from the forests to the seas – we’re talking about the endemic red crabs that will soon begin their once-a-year migration.

The crabs will paint the town red and in the finale of their immigration, will be seen spawning on the ocean shores. You can expect to see this annual phenomenon on Google Street View in January 2018, so mark those calendars!
