As a part of their new engagement initiative, WILD@Home, our local theatre company, WILD RICE, is streaming its popular shows for free—in a bid to connect audiences and artistes amidst this social distancing period.
From 1 to 7 May 2020, they are streaming their show “Supervision” on their YouTube channel. To make things more interactive, there’s a live talkback session on 7 May 2020, 9 pm, where interested audiences can join to watch the live telecast of the cast and creatives of the production.
Written by local playwright Thomas Lim, the storyline is inspired by his aunt who installed cameras in the house to keep a watchful eye over her foreign domestic helpers. The show examines societal issues with the rapid ageing population taking the centre stage. It reveals the immense reliance on foreign domestic workers as primary caregivers, ethics of trust, as well as xenophobia.
The film was last staged in 2019 and received good reviews on its multifaceted roles, enriching exchanges between characters, and a plot that never fails to entertain yet inspires and challenges old belief.
