Singapore’s first and only open-air drive-in theatre was the former Jurong Drive-In Cinema which opened in 1971. Since then, the drive-in movie experience in Singapore has been elusive, with such opportunities only presenting themselves occasionally during pop-up events.
Downtown East has announced that they’ll be bringing back the good ole’ drive-in cinema affair come 8 August 2020. Cosy up with your date or grab your four closest friends or family members as you croon along to some of the best bangers from The Greatest Showman.
An entrance ticket costs $18 and admits 1 car of up to 5 pax, and also includes 2 burgers and 2 drinks from Ministry of Burgers.
If that isn’t enough to fill the bottomless pit that is your stomach, you can select from an affordable menu of top-ups: Burgers from Ministry of Burgers (S$4.50), Candy House nacho & cheese (S$4.50), Candy House popcorn (S$4.50), potato wheel crackers (S$3), kacang putih (S$2), and soft drinks (S$1.50).
Experience the thrill of having your food served straight to you by skaters from Hi Roller, so you know everyone at this event is completely on wheels.
For your peace of mind, safe distancing efforts will definitely be carried out, and they involve parking cars at alternative lots and a maximum cap of 5 passengers per car, to name a few.
Spend your National Day weekend in good company, and reminisce the nostalgia of watching a feel-good film from the comfort of your car.
