It doesn’t really matter if you are schooling or working – we all deserve a break. Since our much anticipated June holidays and summer break have finally arrived, what better way to celebrate than to change into your beach gear and have some fun under the sun?
Returning for the sixth edition, Singapore’s Largest BayFest, DBS Marina Regatta 2017, will be taking place in the Central Business District this 1 – 4 June 2017.
This year’s event boasts Southeast Asia’s largest ever urban beach pop-up, comparable to the size of one and a half Olympic pools, and also promises a myriad of interesting land and water activities. So whether you’re a fitness fanatic, yogi enthusiast, music lover or foodie, there’s going to be something for everyone.
Here are five things to do at the summer event of the year:
1. Get Drenched & Combat The Summer Heat At The Battle Bay
If you’re feeling ballsy and have always wanted to try out the Wipeout challenge, you’re in luck.
The DBS Marina Regatta 2017 features Singapore’s largest inflatable water obstacle course (The Battle Bay), where you can compete individually or in groups and stand a chance to win up to $8,000 in cash prizes. Oh, and not forgetting a 3D2N all-expenses paid trip to Beijing.
The Battle Bay spans over 11,000 square feet and features nine challenging obstacles for participants to overcome. These include wall-scaling, rope swings, balancing nooks, monkey bars, and more.
It may seem easy, but trust me, it’s far from that.
Each attempt costs $10 but if you’re a student, you get to enjoy it at a discounted rate of only $5. Do note that The Battle Bay is strictly for those aged 18 and above. All proceeds will go towards supporting underprivileged students from Student Care services.
Prices: $10 (For Adults), $5 (For Students)

2. Chill Out At The Bay Beach & Get A Cold One At The Coconut Bar
If you went to last year’s DBS Marina Regatta, you’ll realise that this year’s Bay Beach is twice its predecessor’s size. You’ll also be glad to know that this year’s urban beach pop-up is able to accommodate up to 2,000 people.
Seeing how last year’s pop-up attracted quite the crowd, we recommend arriving earlier to secure your favourite spot to ogle at your eye-candies chill.
While you’re at it, why not indulge in some light-hearted fun with friends or even, strangers. Try out the “Giant Games” available including, Giant Jenga and Giant Pick Up Sticks!
If you’ve been to Bali, you would have probably heard of Potato Head Beach Club (PHBC). In partnership with DBS Bank this year, PHBC will be bringing its renowned Coconut Bar to the DBS Marina Regatta. So, that’s something we can all look forward to!
Now you don’t have to travel overseas to relish the signature, thirst-quenching coconut cocktails and beers (for the month of June anyway). Don’t forget to also order some of Three Buns’ gourmet burgers for a much needed snack in between all that sun soaking.
3. Swoon To Nathan Hartono’s Voice As He Performs Live On 2 June ’17
Our favourite heart-throb, Nathan Hartono, will also be gracing the event on the evening of 2 June 2017, where he will be performing live slightly after 5.30pm.
He will then join local entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, and former Miss Universe Singapore, Jamie Teo, on a Battle Bay Showdown. (Yes, he will be getting wet.)
Date & Time: 2 June 2017, 5.40pm – 6pm
4. Get Your Rave On At DBSMR X Ultra Countdown Party
DBS has also partnered with electronic music festival behemoth Ultra. So, get ready to party the night away at the DBSMR X Ultra Countdown Party, happening on both Friday and Saturday evening (2 & 3 June).
The party will bring together talented Ultra Music Festival DJs, such as DubVision, CROSSNADERS, Raiden, Jade Rasif, Moe, and MYRNE.
Entry is $15, inclusive of a free drink and of course, partygoers need to be 18 years old and above. But please, don’t drink and drive, and if you are driving, don’t drink.
Dates & Time: 2 & 3 June 2017, 7pm – 10pm
Price: $15 per entry (inclusive of a free drink at the Play Dome Bar)
5. Lead A Healthier Lifestyle With Lululemon-curated Fitness Classes
The DBS Marina Regatta 2017 has also collaborated with urban fitness brand, Lululemon.
Take your #fitspo goals to a whole new level as you work up a sweat in these Lululemon-curated fitness classes by Yoga+, WeBarre, and Eat Train Love. It’s not everyday that you get to do something at an urban beach pop-up, so if you’re still undecided on which classes to go to, why not attend all?
Besides, classes are all free, so sign up now to avoid disappointment!
