Hello Hello Kitty! Play with us today!
If you weren’t familiar, that was the last line of Hello Kitty’s theme song when the character had her own animated series some time ago.
Hello Kitty went from a simple cartoon to a cultural icon and now she has her own collection of bags with the luxury Spanish fashion house, Balenciaga.
Hello Kitty is probably one of the most collaborated characters to exist.
It seems that this cat character has come full circle. Hello Kitty was created by Yuko Shimizu in 1974 and started out on a coin purse, and is now on Balenciaga bags. Can you imagine the amount of influence or impact something must have in order to appear on a luxury bag?
I can’t either.
The Hello Kitty designs have taken the silhouette of the Ville, a classic Balenciaga handbag shape. And sports the iconic Hello Kitty face with Triple S shoelaces adorning the side of the bag as whiskers. Most importantly, this would not be a Hello Kitty Collection without her red bow which is very much synonymous with the cat character.
The Balenciaga x Hello Kitty Collaboration Collection Ville bag comes in three colours, black, white and pink and will set you back a cool S$2,190 for the XXS size.
Other sizes will be made available at the end of January 2020.
Other than handbags, the Hello Kitty Phone Holder goes for S$1,390.
There is a camera bag and mini wallet in this collection as well but will only be available in subsequent drops.
You can shop the phone case and bag here.
