I remember when I was a kid, I thought the RED edition iPods were the coolest, simply because it was so rare to see them out on the streets. When I got a little older and realised that the money raised from the sale of the iPods were all donated to global HIV/AIDS grants, it certainly made me want one even more. iPods aren’t that useful to me now so I never got down to buying my red iPod, but a red iPhone definitely works. This is the first time ever that Apple is launching their iPhones in the special RED…

If you’re always taking cabs or Ubers everywhere you go, Swatmobile is the newest app you need to have. Instead of paying fares based off the meter or surge pricing, how does a $5 flat fee for any distance sound? By using small vans to ferry passengers, it allows Swatmobile to offer rides at prices that are much cheaper than taxis or other ride sharing apps. The only catch is that you have to be within Swatmobile’s current operating geosphere and book a ride within the operating hours of 7am – 10am on weekdays. Since it’s constantly expanding though, it’s just a matter…

Southeast Asian MMA fans, get your money ready to snag up tickets to UFC’s Fight Night Singapore on 17 June 2017 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. As it is the only Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) fight scheduled in Southeast Asia for 2017, this is going to be a highly anticipated event for more than just the Singapore fans. Names of the fighters have not been announced yet, but I’m certainly hoping for a good lineup so I can get my money’s worth. Tickets are expected to go on sale soon via Sports Hub Tix, so keep an eye out for more…

On 4 March 2017, a new collaboration between KITH, NAKED and Adidas will be released, and all the female sneakerheads out there can rejoice at the new products: Two laceless NMD models that are designed with a “females first” mindset. This Transatlantic Project features Pink and Sandstone colourways, with the Three Stripes logo in metallic silver or gold on white premium leather runner panels down the middle. These NMD CS2 models will be exclusive to KITH and NAKED stores until the general worldwide release on 11 March 2017. Even though these shoes were designed with the ladies in mind, I daresay they’d also…
There have been a lot of crazy beauty trends in the past; blood facials, Nutella face masks and more, but Dermaplaning is one of the newer ones. It might sound a bit weird to scrape your skin with a razor blade, but compared to putting blood on your face, I’d opt for the razor (in the hands of a professional of course). Dermaplaning is the process of running a razor blade across your skin to remove dead skin cells and all the fine hairs on your face that trap oil and dirt. This results in glowing and super smooth skin,…
Heads up, guys. If you have been anxiously waiting for Koe no Katachi to come to Singapore’s theatres like me, wait no longer. Purple Plan is bringing this film to Singapore and Malaysia on 9 March 2017. If you haven’t heard of this film before, here’s a short summary: a boy bullies a deaf classmate in elementary school, but when he transfers to a new school several years later, he becomes the one getting bullied. After he meets his deaf classmate again, he tries to apologise to her, and even went as far as learning sign language. The film was nominated for many…
Get ready hipsters, you’re finally getting your very own festival right here in Singapore! Held over the weekend of 10 – 12 March 2017, Hipster Festival is loaded with the hipster-est of activities, food, music and fashion. The lineup of artistes performing for HipsterFest includes The Pinholes, Cosmic Child and Bakers in Space, and more that have yet to be announced. Okay, I know I said that you could try to run on water, but Oobleck is actually a mixture of cornstarch and water, and if you do it right, you can look as if you’re running on water! How cool is that?…
I know plenty of people like to listen to music while exercising, but I’ve never been one for it (back when I still had the motivation to get up and exercise, that is). I just didn’t enjoy thinking about how sweat might get into my earphones and all. With The Music Run on 6 May 2017, anybody who has the same worry as me should get excited. Instead of having to run while listening to the breathing of other runners, revel in the glorious sound of music being played by 120 speakers over the length of the 5km run. You even get to…
Most art galleries tend to be a bit dull; you walk around ooh-ing and ah-ing at the artworks and sculptures, but after awhile everything starts to look the same. With the new digital gallery (Gallery10) that was launched on 31 Jan 2017 at the National Museum of Singapore however, you’ll get to see art merged with history, presented in a fresh new way through the use of technology. A three part video installation by artist Sarah Choo Jing was commissioned as part of the launch, showcasing Singaporean dancers from different cultures practicing in the back alleys of cultural districts such as Chinatown…
The 2017 New Year airline promotions are all over now, but Singapore Airlines has come to save the day for those who didn’t manage to snag tickets then. Their latest promotion on ticket fares starts at only S$168 for Mastercard holders, and applies to three different travel periods: 1 February – 31 March, 1 April – 30 June, and 1 May – 31 May. Fares to Japan and Korea are around S$700, which is a pretty good deal for Singapore Airlines. Flights to Europe start off a little pricier than their previous promotion, but seeing as how this allows for travel from…
Hokkaido might be in the middle of winter right now, but that just makes it all the more perfect for you to catch this amazing phenomenon. The mouth of the Tokachi River freezes and breaks apart, causing ice chunks (now called Jewel Ice) to float and land ashore on Hokkaido’s beaches during late January to mid February. This happens every year, but the occurrence has gone particularly viral on Instagram and Twitter this 2017. It might be a bit of a rush to try and get plane tickets to see it this year, but if you’re dead set on going, there are plenty…
