If you feel like 2017 is short of conventions then think again because here’s another one that all you Otakus can attend!
Hosted by pop culture blog Akiba Press, Akiba Town is the publication’s first foray into the Japanese Anime Culture event scene. Set to be held at Marina Bay Sands, the event is slated for 4 – 6 August 2017 from 11am – 9.30pm on each day.
What truly sets this event apart from so many others is the fact that they are paying tribute to local cosplayers in the community. While most conventions feature cosplay guests from overseas, Akiba Town has taken it upon themselves to render support to those based in Singapore.
Cosplayers who will be involved include BoiledCurry. カレーン, Yosuke Sora, Rithe リティ 莉提, Drefan Cosplay and Katy Kat Cosplay. All of whom have shown incredible makeup, costume and prop-making skills that have translated into stunning character portrayals.
Of course, an anime convention isn’t complete without vendors selling merchandise, so you can expect to find various artists with booths at the event. Names like Sarah Thursday, Trashure and Lilly Dally will be present, among many others.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re an anime enthusiast or part of the cosplay community — everyone is encouraged to attend. More information will be released as the event approaches so hit up Akiba Town for more updates!
