Fans of My Neighbour Totoro get your plane tickets ready! Studio Ghibli has officially announced plans to open a Totoro Theme Park in Japan during the summer of 2020.
The 200-hectare theme park is set for construction in Nagoya City, and promises to replicate the world of Totoro, allowing fans to delve into the realm of the friendly wood spirits and cat-shaped buses.
According to the co-founder of Studio Ghibli, Toshio Suzuki, the theme park would not feature rides, but instead would largely represent the 1988 film’s theme of “respecting and embracing nature”.
For those still in the lurch, Studio Ghibli is the world renowned studio behind the amazing animated classics Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, so we expect the theme park to be nothing short of amazing.
Date: Grand opening set for the Summer of 2020
