The iconic sarong kebaya has been worn by Singapore Airlines (SIA) stewardesses for ages as a prominent staple since the 1970s. Now, you can wear the iconic print too! Makerly SG, a local fashion brand, has reimagined the distinctive air stewardess print and made it into beautiful modern batik wear.
Makerly SG’s Singapore series has been a huge hit. From their Instagram comments, seems like even Brazilians are keen on buying these crop tops. Luckily, the company ships internationally.
These batik tops retail from S$47 to S$95.
Designs include ribbon tie-back tops, swing tops and wrap tops. Sizes range from UK 4 to UK 12. Makerly SG’s wrap tops range from size UK 4 to UK 22.
Makerly SG even surprised Alyne Tamir (influencer and Nas Daily’s girlfriend) with one of their ribbon tie-back tops. Makerly SG’s batik-wear is completely handmade here in Singapore. Each piece of clothing takes up to 5 hours or more to be tailored.
Many of Makerly SG’s clothing pieces are already out of stock! It’s so heartwarming to see local brands gaining global recognition. This brand is definitely going places. They’ve put their own spin on the traditional batik print and I truly appreciate that they carry sizes up to UK 22. It’s so important for brands to cater to people of all sizes.
