Huawei Releases All-New Improved Huawei Watch GT 2 For A Better Fitness Experience

Smartwatches have become increasingly popular in this digital age as we look for more functions beyond just telling the time. Digital functions such as tracking our fitness stats, cashless payments and having important notifications beamed to us make it more than just a fashion accessory. In the latest smartwatch news, Huawei has just released their new smartwatch, the Watch GT 2 in September 2019.

The Watch GT 2 is a sequel to the Watch GT and it comes in both 46mm and 42mm series, where it is powered by the firm’s proprietary Kirin A1 chip to provide a longer battery life. On top of that, the new smartwatch delivers more sport-related modes to enhance comprehensive health and fitness monitoring, coupled with the addition of Bluetooth calling and music playback functions.

In addition to heart rate monitoring where users can view their heart rate, sleep monitoring is also made available and users can improve their sleep quality with sleep improvement suggestions. The watch is also water-resistant at a depth of 50 meters for up to 10 minutes a time.

Inheriting the classic look from the previous generation, the Watch GT 2 further upgraded its design aesthetics with a full-screen and borderless design. The 46mm model features a 1.39-inch OLED with 454 x 454 resolution and 22mm strap with a battery life lasting for two weeks based on standard usage. The 46mm watch also has a microphone and speaker so you can now take calls from your wrist.

The smaller, thinner, and lighter 42mm Watch GT 2 scales things back with a 1.2-inch OLED with 390 x 390 resolution and 20mm strap. It is a rather modest smartwatch without a microphone and speaker functions, but it is able to perform the latest functions such as the GPS tracked sports mode. It has a battery life of one week based on standard usage.

The Huawei Watch GT2 is a comprehensive upgrade over the first and includes the latest addition of internal storage space for music, plus the ability to pair Bluetooth headphones, unlike the first model. To me, the design is more upmarket than the first, and it is aesthetically more pleasing.

Price: S$376 for 46mm, S$346 for 42mm
