Forbidden City – Portrait Of An Empress: The Musical Returns To The Esplanade This Aug ’17

Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress is Singapore’s most successful musical with three sold-out runs. It will return this August 2017, with Kit Chan reprising the iconic role of Empress Dowager Cixi, the Dragon Lady.

Watch it live at the Esplanade Theater, with star-studded cast members like West End star Earl Carpenter from Les Misérables, Broadway star Steffanie Leigh from Mary Poppins and last but not least, Singapore’s very own Sebastian Tan from Broadway Beng.

Immerse yourself in the music by Singapore’s own talented composer, Dick Lee, a Cultural Medallion winner.

Uncover the mysteries behind the two notable components of China’s ancient history – the Forbidden City and the legendary Empress Dowager Cixi. Dark secrets and hushed rumours will come to light and the musical reveals how the infamous Dragon Lady may have simply been a misunderstood victim of circumstance.

With overarching themes of love, betrayal and power as well as stunning sets and costumes, the performers will bring the audience along on their pursuit of the truth in the Forbidden City. This epic musical promises to be the cultural event of the year so don’t miss the chance to watch it live!
