First-Ever Physical Doraemon Store Opens In Tokyo This Winter In Diver City

2019 marks 40 years since Japan’s favourite mechanical cat first appeared on television screens. But the makeover of a Doraemon train station in Tokyo isn’t the only way Japan is celebrating this momentous year.

For the first time in history, Doraemon will have its very own physical store in the Diver City entertainment complex in Odaiba, Tokyo. While the exact catalogue of the store has not been confirmed, you do not have to wait too long as the store is expected to open its doors this winter.

Diver City is already one of Japan’s leading tourist spots, with the Gundam statue outside being its trademark. It is only 18 minutes from Tokyo Station by train, so it is definitely worth being one of your stops on your trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Will the store feature Doraemon’s extensive collection of gadgets and knick-knacks? I am definitely looking forward to seeing if they will feature a replica of the time machine used in the series.Date: TBC, Winter 2019
