Fun nights out in Singapore don’t always have to include clubbing or alcohol. Cosmic Bowling is perfect for all you worn-out party animals who just need a change in nightlife scenery.
Cosmic bowling is bowling with a twist — the lights are dimmed and the pins light up! You get to bowl with luminous balls and pins in a glow-in-the-dark atmosphere, with disco lights and dance music.
I had the chance to experience it at The Chevrons Orchid Bowl which is a 10-minute walk from Jurong East MRT. Located at the 4th level, I was transported into a whole new party atmosphere upon stepping in.
Priced just slightly above the normal rates, one hour of unlimited bowling per lane is $24.50 for Orchid Bowl members and $30 for the public. With a cozy group of three friends, we were able to play two games in an hour.
Considered as a new hip activity to do after hours (it only starts at 8pm), we were surrounded by a young and energetic crowd.
Bowling shoes can be rented at an additional $1.50 cost and what got us so excited was that the shoes glow in the dark too!
The dance music playing in the background meant that we could not sit still while waiting for our respective turns to play. Cosmic bowling is the perfect sport for a gathering — friendly yet competitively thrilling at the same time.
The Orchid Bowl outlet at The Chevrons isn’t spanking new but it provided us with a comfortable environment to be in. Facilities like the touch-screen monitors and sitting area were all in tip-top conditions.
Lockers are also available for you to be put your mind at ease while you bowl.
The ambience was enough to get me planning my next visit. I groove to almost any kind of music so I loved the atmosphere which wasn’t too loud but still had the party element to it. After a meal with friends, it is a great activity to do while catching up.
If you aren’t up for cosmic bowling as a night activity, Orchid Bowl @ The Chevrons also has a pool table — perfect for big group gatherings. A food booth is also available for some snacks if you get hungry through the night bowling away.
Look out for themed nights like Mambo Jambo and Rocker Night, which would be a fun change from your average bowling experience. Head down to the Orchird Bowl outlets in either Boon Lay, Punggol, Yishun or Downtown East after the pop tunes drop at 8pm!
