Are you exploring new ways to stay fit? Or seeking something fun to spice up the daily routine? This new sport in town might just do the trick.
Tucked away in the corner of Bukit Timah beside The Grandstand, Axe Factor prides itself for being the first indoor axe throwing range in Singapore. The brain behind this place is Samuel Tay, who possesses a venturesome business mind.
Axe Factor will change our perception of exercising while having fun by hurling axes at target boards with a point system. Think of it as throwing darts, but bigger.
It’s 2019, and exercises should not be restricted to mindless running on the treadmill or doing boring aerobics.
If you’re wondering, axe throwing (S$28/hour per pax) is actually a really safe activity. The minimum age allowed to engage in the activity is 15 years old, those younger will have to be accompanied by an adult.
The ranges are covered with metal wire fences to ensure the safety of those on the outside. Furthermore, the axes are pretty blunt and there is a safe distance of about 4.3meter between the target and the thrower.
I had a great time throwing axes but it is definitely not easy for the axe to remain on the target board. It requires precision and some strength to be able to hit the bullseye.
So if you’re looking to let off some steam, throw the axes hard enough and try to have it hit the target board. The rewards of seeing it on the board is truly satisfying.
If you are clueless on how to throw an axe, there are instructors on site to guide you and ensure your safety. You will be an axe-throwing axe-pert in no time. So put your fears aside and have a jolly good time.
And if you’re looking for more fun, the Virtual Reality (VR) games (S$25/hour per group) and Karaoke Television (KTV) will have you spoilt for choice.
Besides axe throwing, Axe Factor also boasts a large space, making it ideal for corporate events or parties for up to 25 pax. Samuel mentioned that a bar is in the pipeline, providing alcoholic drinks and cocktails for events.
Safety is of top priority at Axe Factor and Samuel has implemented a system to evaluate the individual’s soberness before allowing them back into the fence for more axe throwing.
