I can’t profess to be an avid follower of competitions like UFC and One Championship, but I do watch fights occasionally, so when I heard about a new competition being held in Singapore on 23 September 2017, my interest was piqued.
The Asia Fighting Championship is a competition purely for Muay Thai, conceptualised and developed in Singapore, the first of its kind here. With over 24 fighters from across the region such as Korea’s Yoon Deok Jae and Singapore’s most experienced Muay Thai fighter Brandon Ng, it’s shaping up to be a very interesting event.
As if that’s not enough, a celebrity fight has been arranged between Singaporean entertainers, Sylvester Sim from Sgee Ventures Management and Steven Lim.
The two of them got to know each other from the first season of Singapore Idol in 2004, and there has been a longstanding feud between them ever since. They will finally have the chance to settle their differences with a fight in the ring, where neither of them can tap out, so they will have to fight until one person is knocked out or have the victory be announced through a decision.
I’m certainly excited to watch the 24 fighters go up against each other, especially since they’re all champions in their own countries and weight classes. Tickets are available now, so don’t miss out on this inaugural event!
