Apple stores are known island-wide for their futuristic, minimalistic, and clean decor. They stand out for this reason alone, looking like an ultra-modern haven for technology geeks. Currently, there are two other Apple stores—one in Jewel Changi Airport and one in Orchard Road, but I guarantee you’ve not seen one quite as impressive as this one—the Apple Marina Bay Sands.
Apple Singapore recently announced that their latest store, located right in the heart of Singapore’s glittering tourism belt, will be opened to the public on Thursday, September 10. The store features cutting edge architecture, and looks like it belongs in a Black Mirror episode.
Designed in line with their signature minimalistic style, the building is a literal sphere that offers a 360-degree view of the Central Business District. It also sits directly in the water, like an alien lantern from the future.
The spanking state-of-the-art construction allows for a flooding ray of light to illuminate the store, thanks to an oculus located at the apex of the roof. The dome is entirely made from glass, consisting of 114 pieces of glass connected by 10 columns. Trees line the inner circumference of the space, as an ode to Singapore’s close connection with nature.
The shop takes its inspiration from the Pantheon in Rome and features an indoor Forum, and check this—an underwater Boardroom. The Forum will be used as a stage to host the Today At Apple sessions, featuring local musicians, artists and creators while the Boardroom will be where entrepreneurs can meet with the Apple Team for training and advice.
In line with social distancing measures, mask requirements, Safe Entry scanning and temperature checks will be duly carried out when the store opens.
