Halloween is right around the corner and the year’s spookiest date lands right smack in the middle of the week. If you’re not already heading to one of the many themed club parties, you still have some time to squeeze some last-minute costume shopping this 2017.

Then there’s only that one issue of haphazardly trying to scour the rows and rows of costumes for that perfect one. Time is not on your side so here’s a list of eight costume stores in Singapore to snap up the quirkiest Halloween outfits:

First up is the OG of the costume/cosplay market in Singapore. Pan-In-The-Box is the island’s first ever cosplay store having welcomed their first customers in 2003. Located in Central @ Clarke Quay, they boast a huge inventory of masquerades for you to choose from.

The knowledgeable owner was very welcoming to my enquires and even dressed himself up for the camera! Always good to see people’s passions overflowing, which is rare these days.

My Pick: Go straight for the range of masks – an easy cop-out to pull off a quick makeshift costume.

2. Costumes & Mascots

A no-nonsense store that keeps it real. Leave your belongings behind as you’ll be up to your wit’s end with the sheer amount of inventory that’s housed at Costumes & Mascots.

With rows upon rows of costumers to choose from, you’d be better off coming with something in mind as it’s next to impossible to sift through the troves of outfits.

My Pick: Astronaut Costume; very out of this world.

3. Awesome Costumes

Now, this one you can even bookmark for next year. If you have a particular costume in mind that you could never find anywhere else, give these guys a shot.

Awesome Costumes will custom-make your vision and bring it to life after a consultation with their talented team. Rentals are available as well and you can pick them up from their office in Pemimpin.

My Pick: T-Rex Costume. Need I say more?

4. Moephosis Concepts

If you’re looking for something with a more specialised touch and of the highest quality, look no further. Moephosis Concepts are the wizards bearing the magical touch that lies behind many stage costumes of musical plays that run throughout Singapore.

With that accolade alone, you know realism is something they prioritise.

5. JCM Costume Rental

This is another establishment steered by passion. Mr. Jeffrey Chung is an expert in all things costumes and even has tips on how to properly pull off the character. He’ll instruct you on those small details to perfectly re-enact the corresponding persona.

6. Global Mascot Pte. Ltd.

If you’ve donned traditional costumes and I mean the pants-top combo, maybe trapping yourself in a heat chamber a.k.a a mascot costume might be something you’d be interested in this year. Offering full coverage and presenting yourself as quite the photo-op for everyone else, you’re definitely going to stand out.

As recommended by my cosplaying friends, this is THE store for all your accessories. Aside from precisely measured custom getups or minor modifications to your throwback costumes, they have THE most luminous light sabre I’ve ever seen.

My Pick: Light Sabres. Just look at that glow!

8. Costumes ‘N’ Parties Pte. Ltd.

Remember that costume store nestled in the shophouses near Outram Park? Yeah, Costumes ‘N’ Parties Pte. Ltd. has moved to a new location at Havelock Road. Famed for its fully-immersive costumes, the new store is even more accessible and organised.

They’ve even implemented new technology so you don’t have to painfully flip through folder pages to pick a costume. Best option out there if you’re strapped for time!

My Pick: Ghost Busters Costume. When else can you find yourself in a jumpsuit?
