Addicted to the beauty scene, I’ve always been curious about the Japanese skincare regime that seems to produce such flawless results. My attention was stolen when I heard a Japanese hair and skin care brand was coming to Singapore.
Utena (pronounced ooo-ten-nah) was founded in Japan over 90 years ago in 1927. From cosmetics to skin care, they’ve got you covered.
One of their leading products is the Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Series, featuring a box containing three sheet masks that have been soaked in 33 grams of the golden jelly essence; it’s been a hit since they launched back in 2014.
They sure weren’t lying when they said each sheet mask was soaked in 33 grams of the golden jelly essence.
I tried the Golden Jelly Mask (S$16.90) and there was such an abundance of the golden jelly essence that I decided to apply it on the rest of my body as well. There was more than enough to generously cover my neck, arms and legs!
After the first use of this sheet mask, I woke up with my skin glowing and the rest of my body felt slightly more moisturised, so I guess the golden jelly essence must have worked in some way or another.
Skincare aside, their Matomage (pronounced mah-toe-mei-gi) Hair Styling Series is also a must-try.
Curling my hair on a daily basis is time-consuming, but nothing is worse than my curls not lasting through the day. The Matomage Hair Styling Water (S$9.90) is a liquid wax that not only keeps your hair in place but also soft and healthy.
The Hair Styling Water worked like regular hairspray, except it did not harden after setting, so my curls looked natural throughout the day. They even remained intact after my intense dance class that ended at around 10pm, and I’ve been using this revolutionary product ever since.
Pardon my rave review, but I’ve truly fallen in love with the Matomage range of products. The Hair Styling Stick (S$9.90) for example, allows me to wax my hair into place without getting my hands dirty.
The hair styling stick comes in two variations, pink for a regular hold and green for a stronger hold. I’ve been using the regular hair styling stick (pink) for over a week and it holds my stray, baby hair in place throughout the day just fine.
The best part? Matomage hair products set so naturally, I have flawless hair (without hints of the number of products I’ve used to achieve and maintain my look).
The Japanese have proven to be one of the industry leaders when it comes to beauty and hair care. And if we can’t beat them, join them!
I’ve jumped onto the bandwagon and incorporated both products into my daily hair and skin care routine and you really should give them a try too.
