After trying out the new Kérastase scalp and hair treatment at mi the salon, I’m sold — both by the results and the excellent service of the hairdressers. It’s worth a try, especially with the ongoing first trial rates.
Besides leaving the salon with a cleaner scalp and silkier locks, I really enjoyed the comfortable massages (yes, plural!) that accompanied the treatments. Those were minutes of absolute bliss.
An almost-daily use of my hair straightener coupled with regular dyeing and bleaching left my locks more hay than hair. So, I jumped at the chance to try out mi the salon’s latest Kérastase Detoxifying Scalp Ritual and Kérastase Fusio-Thermie Hair Treatment.
Kérastase Detoxifying Scalp Ritual
Unbeknownst to many, our scalp ages faster than our skin and requires regular exfoliation, explained Gary, founder of mi the salon. However, regular shampooing can’t get rid of all the build-up.
Here’s the gnarly “before” shot.
The treatment begins with a scalp analysis where your stylist will use a device to photograph and examine your scalp and recommend a suitable treatment. There’s the Purifying Ritual for those with dandruff, Clarifying Ritual for normal to oily scalps and the Calming Ritual to sooth sensitive scalps.
Following that is a five-step process consisting of cleanse, massage, bathe, regenerate and blowdry. Since my scalp was on the oily side, the Clarifying Ritual helped get the gunk out. Next, my stylist, Grace, added a dose of anti-oxidants to the roots of my hair to promote healthy hair growth.
Evident from the second scan of my scalp, the build-up was reduced and my roots felt less weighed down.
Prices: S$105 for the first trial, S$125 for following single sessions, S$630 for seven sessions
Kérastase Fusio-Thermie Hair Treatment
This 35-minute session combines a Fusio-Dose concentre, a booster and a flat iron to deliver an intensive treatment.
After choosing the right concentre to target your primary need, a booster is added in to target your secondary need. A special flat iron is then used to seal in the nutrients. This flat iron operates at low heat so it’s not damaging and is safe for permed and chemically-treated hair.
After examining my hair, Grace determined it to be dry and suggested a combination of Concentre Oleo-Fusion, Reconstruction Booster and the Argan Oil-Infused Flat Iron.
There was a visible improvement in the texture of my hair — the top portion was smoother while the ends were less dry and weak. An added bonus was that my hair smelled amazing! Apologies to the strangers who might have been weirded out by me occasionally sniffing it for the remainder of the day.
First trial exclusive prices: S$138 for short hair, S$168 for long hair
Home Care
To maximise the effects of the treatment, you can request for your stylist to recommend some of Kérastases’s products for you to use at home. We were given the CHRONOLOGISTE range to try out and though I haven’t gotten around to testing it, I did take a whiff of it and was won over by the scent.
Now I can have hair that always smells as if I just left the salon! Fabulous.
Prices: S$39 – S$60 for shampoos, conditioners and masks
