Go Bold, Au Naturel Or Ombre It Out With Kat Von D Beauty’s New Long-Lasting Brow Collection

Makeup maestro Kat Von D has introduced something to rock the world — a brow collection with three lines that are long-lasting and with shades to fit everyone.

Choose to go all out and deck your brows in vibrant shades or ease in with a sleek ombre look. There are also plenty of options for those who prefer something more subtle, suitable for everyday wear.

Signature Brow Precision Pencil (S$31) 

Available in seven brow-tone shades, the Signature Brow Precision Pencil (S$31) has a ultra-skinny tip that creates fine, hair-like strokes to mimic a microblade look.

Be patient as this brow pencil isn’t designed to give an instant payoff. Instead, go in with a light hand and build it up! A colleague snagged this and remarked that she enjoyed the precision and how it could be easily blended out.

Brow Struck Dimension Powder (S$31) 

The Beauty Brow Struck Dimension Powder (S$31) was a unanimous hit and the H&S team found it to be idiot-proof, pigmented and versatile. There are seven shades available and it’s best paired with the Kat Von D Beauty Powder Brush #75 (S$28), as the combed design maximises colour payoff and grooms your brows simultaneously. 

The semi-metallic powder has flecks of glitter that add dimension to your brows and mimic the sheen of real hair. It can even double up as eyeshadow!

Once applied, the powder is supposed to be waterproof and smudge-resistant for up to 12 hours. I put it to the test by applying it in the afternoon and leaving it on for the whole day. Even with an hour of sweaty kickboxing, my brows remained mostly intact!

A quick tip: The colours tend to apply darker on your skin than it looks in the pan so do test them out first.

24-HR Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade (S$29)

The 24-HR Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade (S$29) is possibly the star product in this line-up with its longevity and extensive colour selection. There are 16 shades available — seven artistry colours, seven neutral brow-tones and two colours meant for mixing.

While you can use these two shades on their own, they’re also great for mixing with other colours to create more hues.

The product promises to be “high-impact, budge-proof, smudge-proof” and it did live up to its claims. To test it out, we swatch-ed some onto our arms, placed them under running water and rubbed them vigorously. While there was a little smudging, most of it remained intact.

A little goes a long way with this as it’s really pigmented. Also, work fast as the pomade dries relatively quickly and once it does, it’s budge-proof.

Brow It Your Way

While all the products and colours look great on their own, the team decided to kick our makeup up a notch by mixing the various products to achieve a different look.

Some tried out a single colour:

While others rocked the ombre look:

In the end, we felt that the ombre look worked best with coloured hair:

The results were slightly edgier, slightly experimental but completely wearable. In fact, they rocked these looks for the whole day.
