We truly are living in the future. From Nokia brick phones to colour screens, flip phones, touch screens, and now touch screen folding phones. I don’t know about you but at the current rate of technological advancement, I feel both fascinated and terrified.

We must acknowledge what led us to these beautiful large foldable screens—the OG large-screen smartphone that disrupted the market, the Samsung Galaxy Note. Back in 2011, when the 5.3-inch tall screen was unveiled, many felt that the phone was way too big. Now, we don’t even bat an eye when it comes to eight-inch tall screens. This year alone, we see the likes of Samsung, Motorola and Huawei taking a cautious dip into the foldable phone market.
Speaking of Huawei—it was revealed on 18 February 2020, that the second-largest phone manufacturer will release a predecessor to their first foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X, with the new and improved Huawei Mate Xs. The Xs will sport an eight-inch foldable screen, OLED display, a 4500 mAh battery, and a Leica Quad Camera, amongst other high-end features. To tie it all together, the Xs also runs on the EMUI 10 operating system, which is based on Android 10.

The most exciting design feature of the Xs would be the innovative Falcon Wings hinge. The Falcon Wings provides the phone with its beautiful ability to be foldable for a seamless and sleek experience when folding and unfolding the phone.

The Huawei Mate Xs is set to launch in Singapore sometime in March 2020. What do you think about foldable screens on phones? Will you get one? Is this the future?
Stay tuned.
