When I was younger, my classmates and I would camp in the computer lab to play virtual escape room games from websites. Little did we know that as we grew up, this idea would be conceptualised into a physical game that will keep us entertained in real life.
Escape rooms are a great way to foster a stronger bond with your friends, family or colleagues through having fun together — you’ll have to work together to look for clues, solve problems and navigate your way out of the trapped room in stipulated timings.

10. Trapped SG
Situated at *SCAPE Youth Park, Trapped SG has only three escape rooms, but before you start brushing it aside, we’ll have you know that the success rate of escaping is only 17%.
Trapped SG also has a chest filled with the most interesting props to have a photo taken after the game.

9. Escape Artist
Escape Artist has two outlets, one at Prinsep Street and another at Harbourfront — both are easily accessible by public transport. The rooms focus on creating an experience rather than puzzle solving, which includes a lot of physical movements like climbing and crawling.
Escape Artist also lets each player choose a super power, which will allow an additional five minutes to escape the rooms, or the ability to gain an extra hint.

8. BreakOut Singapore
Featuring four rooms in total, BreakOut Singapore will squeeze your brain juice to the very limit. It is designed for experienced escape room players, but if you’re up for the challenge, put yourself to the test even if you’re a newbie.
The interesting thing about BreakOut is that there are more than a single way to solve a puzzle. You’ll never know until you’ve exhaust all your creativity.

7. Encounter
Unlike any other escape rooms in Singapore, Encounter has three typically designed rooms, and one that is located in an actual HDB apartment.
‘The Apartment‘ is styled with a local twist, with the theme surrounding a family that has gone missing. Will you be able to piece together the clues to find out what truly happened to them?

6. Captivate Escape Rooms
The Captivate Escape, which we have recently featured, has five rooms in total with a unique tricky feature.
Captivate Escape also hosts escape room parties for anyone above seven years old, now I know where my next birthday celebration will be held at.

5. Xcape
Boasting the widest collection of 12 games in total, Xcape has a mix of both horror and fun-themed rooms, including Kungfu Panda, Annabelle, to Resident Evil.
For thrill seekers searching for an escape room with great sound and lighting effects, it is definitely the place to go.

LockDown.SG provides six different games to choose from with an unlimited amount of hints provided. There are rooms available with various challenges for the novice to the experts.
The rooms are well-decorated with clever elements and props that match the themes perfectly. Psst, I heard you’ll have to be especially attentive to details to solve the mysteries.

3. Escape Hunt
Escape Hunt is an international brand, with outlets across more than 20 countries worldwide.
The puzzles are family-friendly, with three different themes to choose from. So, grab your little cousins along to join in the fun!
Not can you chill in the huge lounge, you will also serve hot tea and biscuits. The prices are charged per room, hence the more players, the lower the price per person will be.

2. Freeing SG
Located at The Cathay, Freeing SG is one of the escape rooms that has impressed me deeply. The moment you step into the room, you will completely be immersed in the character.
Freeing SG also includes Virtual Reality (VR) system into the gameplay to further engage the players. There are seven rooms in total, separated into horror and non-horror themes.
At my time of visit, one of the rooms was undergoing maintenance, so make sure you check before going down.

With five different themed rooms in total, Lost SG works with very advanced technology to create unforgettable experiences for their players.
The props and set-up of the rooms are extremely well designed, ensuring that the puzzles are interactive yet challenging. This is one of the best escape rooms I’ve been to.
