I would love to believe #filmisnotdead, but the rampancy of DSLRs in today’s photography makes it hard to deem so.
No matter how advanced technology is, there will always be a place in my heart for nostalgic film photography; it just evokes that much more emotion in the photograph, as opposed to mindless spamming of the shuttle on a DSLR.

If you’re a film lover, here are two affordable classic black and white film cameras to try out from the ILFORD HP5 PLUS Single Use Camera series, which cost only S$20 each.

Dressed in snazzy red, the ILFORD XP2 Single Use Camera is built for shooting high contrast, fine grain, black and white images that can be developed at any C41-type photo lab. If you’re going for an emo aesthetic, this is the camera you’ll want your hands on.

The ILFORD HP5 PLUS Single Use Camera, on the other hand, boasts a wide latitude, medium contrast, black and white film. What you’re going to get is photographs with a retro faded look.
For just S$20, I’m already planning to purchase these babies whether it is for travelling or street shots. It will fit well in your pocket and be a perfect companion to hone your photo-taking skills.
