IRONMAN 70.3: Participate In One Of Southeast Asia’s Biggest Triathlons In Bintan On 20 Aug ’17

If the Bintan Triathlon in May 2017 wasn’t enough to fuel the athlete in you, fret not because the third edition of IRONMAN 70.3 will be back on 20 August 2017 in Bintan, Indonesia. Set around the spectacular beaches of the island, this iconic race is a must-try for any serious triathlete out there.

Judging by the previous two races, the event will definitely see some strong contenders from both national and international athletes, who will be competing in swimming, cycling and running.

One-Lap Swim Race

To kick off the event, participants will start with a one-lap swim race in one of the best courses in Asia, within the protected bay of the South China Sea. Not only are the waters crystal clear with high visibility for swimmers, there will also be minimal currents, so it is quite comparable to swimming in a pool.

One-Lap Bike Course

Following that, participants are to complete a one-lap bike course on a route that meanders through the North-West segment of the island. Cyclists can expect to ride with ease as the smooth roads are wide with little rolling resistance along with hills that don’t surpass 60 meters.

What’s more, the scenic view will feature lush and dense greenery, courtesy of the forested areas fringing the paths.

Three-Lap Run Course

Finally, the triathlon will end with a spectator-friendly three-lap run course on a paved track around the man-made lake of Lagoi Bay. The flat terrain will cut through a picturesque beachfront with a view of the tropical rainforest, as well.

A cash prize of US$15,000 is to be won, with 30 qualifying age group slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship that will take place in South Africa, so the stakes are high! Do note that participants can either opt to race individually or as a team.
